Abstract

INTRODUCTION: Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a revolutionary technology with diverse applications across various domains, orthodontics included. This review article explores the widespread applications of AI in orthodontics and discusses the advantages and potential implications of AI in this specialized domain. The use of AI algorithms and machine learning techniques has shown promise in enhancing orthodontic diagnosis, automating cephalometric tracing, estimating growth and development, assessing facial proportions, aiding in orthodontic treatment planning, guiding decisions on orthognathic surgery, and facilitating image segmentation and landmark identification. By leveraging AI technologies, orthodontists can improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making in patient care.
