Abstract
Smart Breathomics is redefining the field of non-invasive diagnostics in respiratory diseases through the analysis of exhaled breath condensate (EBC). Chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) represent a significant global health burden and are becoming increasingly expensive to treat, which necessitates timely and precise diagnosis. Smart breathomics addresses the challenges faced in EBC analysis by proposing the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) models. Although analytical technologies provide high-sensitivity measurement of disease-specific biomarkers, the addition of AI can augment pattern recognition within biomarkers, data analytics, and real-time diagnostics of CRDs. Smart Breathomics can overcome challenges, including biomarker dilution and matrix effects, to enhance standardization and reproducibility, thereby supporting point-of-care applications.
