Generative AI Podcasts for Learning: Perceptions of Faculty and Graduate Nursing Students.

BACKGROUND: In nursing education, faculty generated and commercially prepared podcasts have been shown to be an effective way to deliver content. Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) technology can be used to create human-like podcast audio recordings using evidence-based resources chosen by faculty. METHOD: This descriptive, cross-sectional pilot study assessed graduate nursing students' perceptions of GAI-created podcasts to relay course content. RESULTS: Students found the advantages of GAI podcasts to be that they were convenient and engaging, appealed to different learning styles, and offered a summary of course material. They also expressed concerns about quality, trustworthiness, and the addition of more assignments to existing coursework. CONCLUSION: This study showed promise for GAI podcasts as an innovative and effective strategy in relaying content and meeting course objectives in an engaging way, providing flexibility for adult learners, and easing the demands of faculty workloads.
