Abstract

Artificial Intelligence requires a new approach to governance to manage the complexity of the algorithms themselves, implementation, and monitoring. At Oregon Health & Science University, an AI governance approach that used key AI frameworks to create a structured intake process was created. From the initial 2 years' experience of reviewing over 300 requests, an AI strategy that connected the need for education and evaluation with Learning Health System was created. Initial results showed efficiency gains from automated coding, summarization, translation, quality assurance, and the creation of an ecosystem for virtuous monitoring and learning.
