An Event-Condition-Action (ECA)-Based Formalization of Clinical Guidelines.

Although existing approaches support medical knowledge representation, formalizing clinical guidelines (CGs) remains challenging. We use Event-Condition-Action (ECA) rules, a well-known paradigm, to address this challenge and present an early ECA-based formalism for CG representation, including mappings to Arden Syntax and Asbru. Our results show that the formalism provides a semantically coherent foundation aligned with established guideline representation methods.
