Measuring Return on Investment for Professional Development Activities: 2026 Known Cost of Outcomes Table and Generative AI Implications.

Over the past decade, nursing professional development practitioners (NPDPs) have advanced efforts to measure the economic impact of educational activities. This sixth article reviews recent literature, updates the Known Cost of Outcomes table, and explores how generative artificial intelligence can support economic impact analysis. Despite pandemic setbacks, the authors urge NPDPs to measure, validate, and publish financial outcomes. Through publishing, NPDPs will collectively demonstrate the economic impact and value of NPD programming, gaining and maintaining support for NPD resources.
