Abstract
Mihaela van der Schaar is John Humphrey Plummer Professor of Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Medicine, at the University of Cambridge, where she leads the van der Schaar Lab, directs the Cambridge Centre for AI in Medicine, and serves as Chief AI Scientist at the Francis Crick Institute. An IEEE Fellow since 2009 and Fellow of the Royal Society since 2024, she has received major honors including the Johann Anton Merck Award, Cambridge's Oon Prize, and an NSF CAREER Award. She holds 35 US patents, contributed to 45 international standards, earned 3 ISO Awards, and was named the UK's most-cited female AI researcher.
