Abstract

CONTEXT: Hemostatic abnormalities are more common in patients with brain tumors than systemic malignant diseases. Conventional coagulation tests (CCT) are poor assays for dynamic assessment of clot strength in whole blood. Thromboelastography (TEG) gives us detailed information on the dynamics of clot development, stabilization, and dissolution reflecting hemostasis. TEG can assess both thrombosis and fibrinolysis.
