Abstract

BACKGROUND: The cryopreservation process induces osmotic stress, membrane changes and production of reactive oxygen species resulting in damage to the spermatozoa. Together, the presence of oxygen in the extender aggravates the oxidative stress that further reduces the cryosurvival rate of sperm cells.
